The choir of the Sistine Chapel has existed for 1500 years and is the oldest choir in the world.

The choir performs during the Papal Celebrations in St. Peter's and in concerts throughout the world during the numerous celebrations of the Pope.

At one time the choir performed in the Sistine Chapel frescoed by Michelangelo, today more frequently the celebrations take place in the Basilica of San Pietro in the Vatican.

The choir of the Sistine Chapel is composed of 20 stable adult singers and about 35 singer boys, the Pueri Cantores. The boys frequent the Schola Puerorum (a free school).
